When ELLE Style Awards, also known as the fashion party of the year, was taking place 17 May 2017 in Copenhagen, the blooming Danish fashion industry was celebrated by awarding the most talented designers and stylists – not to forget the most significant style icons and fashion communicators at a show in a league of its own.
Print designer Helene Blanche has drawn the beautiful Fleurelle motif being the visual red thread of the event when decorating walls, chairs, bags, all printed material and of course: the floor! The floral design was a very exciting challenge to Helene Blanche who is educated from Central Saint Martin and partner of TAPET-CAFE – an exclusive interior boutique offering exquisite wallpapers, custom-made curtains, finest paint colours, hand-printed textiles and upholstery.
When asked about the design inspiration Helene Blanche explains: “I was deeply inspired by the beautiful Danish roadside. The flowers count poppies, cornflower, fritillary, snowdrop and daisy and I have hand painted them all in ink. It was very important to me that the design and print had an artistic expression.”
Right from the beginning of the design process Helene Blanche wanted flowers to be the focal point of the design but she had many considerations about which flowers to use to create just the right look and atmosphere. She elaborates: “I constantly experiment with hand drawing when I create the initial sketches for a pattern and with Fleurelle it has been important to me to have an open and playful working process to make the final design very dynamic and partly unpolished.
The Fleurelle carpet isn't just floral – it's also green! Produced in our exclusive Highline quality, the ELLE Style Awards carpet is created in regenerated yarn produced from used fishing nets that are transformed into strong and hardwearing textile flooring. The carpets are Cradle to Cradle Certified®.
